We took a ride (actually two rides) in a hot air balloon over the Tablelands of Australia.  We got up to 3,000 feet high in the balloon!

We rode a sky rail through the rain forest in Kuranda.  There were a few places you could stop and get off along the way to walk on scenic trails.

We got off the skyrail at Baron Falls so we could take the scenic walk to see the falls better.

We went to Tjapukai - an Aboriginal Cultural Park.  We saw a show that included song and dance.  We heard about the history and beliefs of the Tjapukai tribe.  We learned of their bushman foods and medicines.  We were also given a demonstration and able to try our hand at Spear throwing, boomerang throwing, and playing the  didgeridoo.

We took a scenic helicopter ride over the great barrier reef.  After the scenic ride, we were dropped off at the reef where we snorkled and later took a boat back to the pier next to our hotel.

Where our helicopter landed!

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the Cairns Tropical Zoo.  We had a great time seeing the animals.  We got to feed the kangaroos and hold a 12' python and a koala.

When they place the Koala in your arms, they place her bottom in your hand.  As they placed her in my hand, I asked when was the last time she poo'd.  The girl told me that it could be any time now.... as luck would have it, she poo'd right in my hand while I was holding her.

OK - I love snakes, really I do.  HOWEVER, I would be lying if I said I was not intimidated by this one.  And of course my face pretty much reveals how I felt as I was holding it....

There was a big area at the zoo where you could go and feed the kangaroos.  It was a lot of fun.  They are very curious animals.  The kangaroo in the picture with Chris was fascinated with his hat.  Maybe the kangaroo was just amazed that a tourist would actually buy a hat like that :)
